Valter Fernandes

Valter Fernandes

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Hello, I’m Valter Fernandes, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner at St Martin Surgery. As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, I provide a range of healthcare services similar to those of a doctor. This includes diagnosing and treating medical conditions, prescribing medications, and managing overall patient care.

I have been dedicated to the nursing profession for 17 years and have been a Nurse Prescriber for the past 10 years. My journey in nursing began with core training in Portugal, followed by advanced studies at the University of Northampton and the University of Chester. I have a particular interest in heart-related conditions and have spent my entire career working in acute care.

Outside of work, I cherish spending time with my family and staying active through exercise.

My approach to patient care is centered on the belief that every person is an individual who deserves to be listened to and given the time they need.

I look forward to meeting you and supporting your health and well-being

Dr Christian Jury

Dr Christian Jury

General Practitioner MBBCh, MRCS, MRCGP

I trained in Cardiff University and after a variety of Junior Doctor jobs went on to complete core surgical training covering Trauma & Orthopaedics, colorectal, breast, vascular, thyroid and ENT surgery, becoming a member of the Royal College of Surgeons. While surgery was fascinating, I missed the holistic element of care and decided then to train as a GP before becoming a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners. I moved back to Jersey over a decade ago and have loved being a GP here since, looking after all aspects and ages of patients. My medical interests include inflammatory bowel disease, ENT & general surgical problems and Men’s health

Kirsi did a Palliative Medicine Diploma at Cardiff University 2011. She is interested in geriatric medicine, chronic disease management and palliative care.

In her spare time, Kirsi enjoys gentle jogging, walking and sea swimming throughout the year

Dr Alexandra McCullough

Dr Alexandra McCullough

General Practitioner

Before becoming a doctor I worked for an international children’s charity and in NHS inspection (CQC as it is now…!) but in my late 20s I was fortunate to get onto a fast track medicine degree at Cambridge. I trained for 7 years in hospital medicine, with a specialism in acute and diabetic medicine. I soon discovered that, the further up the tree I went, the less well I got to know my patients as people and the narrower the medicine became – hence why I became a GP! I enjoy problem solving/diagnosing, and have an interest in women’s health, including: coils and implants, teaching, and was also part of a cancer diagnostic clinic in London, before moving to Jersey in 2023. My family is delighted to no longer be married to the NHS after 20 years. When not at work I can be found running and swimming with the dog, playing paddle tennis, or playing too many other kinds of sports to list, with my son.

This allows time to discuss all aspects of the perimenopause and menopause in depth. This includes HRT, lifestyle measures, contraception and more. I qualified in Birmingham and my medical interests include Minor Surgery, Cosmetic Treatments, Weight Loss Injections, Sports Medicine, Asthma, Heart Conditions and Palliative Care.

I am a keen cyclist and triathlete and enjoy the excitement of competition. I have taken part in many charitable events in far-flung parts of the world, so have first-hand experience relating to travel advice and precautions, especially if you are venturing off the beaten track!

Dr. Daniel Albert

Dr. Daniel Albert

General Practitioner

I initially began training to specialise as a Paediatrician, then discovered that I could combine my love of caring for children with caring for everyone else! I qualified from Liverpool University in 1999 and began my GP training in Jersey. I received my formal qualification in Scotland in 2007 and returned to Jersey in 2008, where I have worked as a GP ever since.

I occasionally work as a Paediatric Doctor in Jersey General Hospital, which allows me to enjoy the best of both worlds. My medical interests are Paediatrics, Travel Health, Palliative Care, Sexual Health and Family Planning.

I am married with 3 children and, when not working, I enjoy spending as much time with my family as possible. We enjoy cycling, walking and spending time on the beautiful beaches of Jersey. I recently introduced my children to the joys of backpacking and hope they will continue to explore the world as they get bigger.

Lizzy de Carteret

Lizzy de Carteret

Practice Manager

I am a Jersey girl through and through, raised in St Martin, and a former pupil at St Martin Primary School.

For the past 13 years I have worked in healthcare, spending 10 years in Primary Care and 3 years as Business Support in Secondary Care. I relish a challenge and am so excited to be managing St Martin Surgery.

When I’m not working, I enjoy relaxing at home with my partner and our cat, experimenting with cooking (not always successfully!) or catching up on the latest Netflix series. We also love finding new walks in the beautiful Jersey countryside. Despite living here all my life, there is still plenty to discover.
